A relaxing boating game. Sail as far as you like across a sea that keeps going, and nothing out there will grade you for it.
The world is generated as you sail, with new biomes the farther out you go, weather that rolls in and water that changes with it.
Fish them out of the water and keep them in your journal. If one's worth passing on, you can share its text with someone.
Stop at a pool for an optional check-in on how you're feeling. With your permission it's saved to Apple Health, and the game keeps nothing about what you said.
Your voyage follows you between iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV through iCloud, and your Game Center nickname is painted on the side of the boat.
With supported headphones, spatial audio places the sea and the wind around you as you turn your head.
Widgets show pictures from your voyages and your latest finds. Steer with touch, a game controller or the Apple TV remote.
Effective date: October 1, 2026
Fishing for Compliments ("the app", "the game") is a relaxing boating game for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV, made by Spencer Holtaway ("I", "me"). This policy explains what information the game uses and where it goes.
The short version: I don't collect any of your data. The game has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no servers of its own. Everything it keeps stays on your devices or in your own Apple account (iCloud, Game Center, Apple Health), where Apple's privacy policy applies.
Your game progress is saved on your device: your world, where you left the boat, the things you've found, achievements, journal entries, stats about your play sessions (time spent anchored or sailing, distance sailed), and your settings. Deleting the app deletes this data.
To keep one boat and one save across your devices, the game stores a copy of your progress in iCloud's key-value storage, tied to your Apple Account. Only your devices running the game can read it. I can't see it. You can turn this off for the app in your device's iCloud settings.
If you're signed in to Game Center, the game reports the achievements you earn to Game Center, and shows your Game Center nickname painted on the side of your boat. The nickname is only shown inside the game on your device. Game Center is run by Apple; what it shows to friends is controlled by your Game Center settings.
At reflecting pools the game may offer an optional check-in, where you can record how you're feeling. If you take part and give permission, the game saves that entry to Apple Health as a "State of Mind" sample.
The widgets show pictures from your voyages and recent finds. To do this the game saves a few pictures of the game scene (never camera photos), along with a summary of your journal, on your device in a storage space shared only with its own widgets. They're deleted when you delete the app.
The game doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
If the game starts using information in a new way, I'll update this policy and change the effective date above.
